Korea - Special support for electricity bills for small business owners has been expanded.




Here’s some great news for small business owners! The government has significantly improved its electricity bill support policy, allowing more small businesses to benefit. This new policy will be a great help in stabilizing your business operations.

Expansion of Eligibility

  • Previous Criteria: Only small businesses with annual sales of up to 60 million KRW were eligible for support.
  • Revised Criteria: Now, small businesses with annual sales of up to 104 million KRW are also eligible. This expansion will provide substantial assistance to many small businesses.

Support Details and Precautions

  • Support Amount: You can receive up to 200,000 KRW in electricity bill support.
  • Excluded Sectors: Businesses in certain sectors, such as entertainment and gambling, are excluded from this support. If you operate in these industries, please take note.


How to Apply

  • Online Application: You can easily apply through the website ‘소상공인전기요금특별지원.kr’.
  • Offline Application: If online application is difficult, you can visit one of the 77 regional centers of the Small Enterprise and Market Service for assistance.


Required Information for Application

  • KEPCO Direct Contract Customers: You will need your business information and KEPCO customer number.
  • Non-Contract Users: You will need your business information, KEPCO customer number, and a receipt showing payment of at least 12,000 KRW per month.


Benefits for Previous Applicants

If you were not eligible for support earlier this year due to exceeding the sales threshold but now meet the expanded criteria, you can receive support automatically without reapplying.
